Jessica Melissa-Marie (Neuwirth) Reese

September 30, 1973 ~ April 15, 2021 (age 47)

Jessica Melissa-Marie Neuwirth Reese, 47, passed away in her home in Provo, Utah, we believe on April 15, 2021 (death date is pending). Jessica was born on September 30, 1973, in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, to Paul and Leota (Podwys) Neuwirth. Jessica’s father was in the Army which gave her the opportunity to see the world.  She lived in many places growing up including Bisbee, Arizona; El Paso, Texas; Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Provo, Utah; Preston, Idaho; Presidio, California; Heidelberg, Germany; and Pemberton, New Jersey. She graduated from Provo High May 1991.  Growing up in the Army made keeping lasting friendships hard but gave her the opportunity for many friendships over the years.  She married Bobby Reese but later divorced.

Being 19 months younger than her brother, she was often in his shadow but she looked up to him and often complemented him on his accomplishments.  She saw the good in others.

After she graduated, she worked as a nanny in Connecticut and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Oklahoma. She has lived in Owensboro, KY; Tucson, AZ; Ogden, UT and many places in Utah County.

Her pride and joy was her son, Chase.  She lived to give him all she could.  With Jessica’s health struggles, she did her best to be there for him but let others raise him when she knew it was best for him despite how she would miss him.

She had many health issues through the years and fought diabetes for the past 17 years. She was proud of her independence even after a portion of her leg was amputated. Despite her many challenges, she was happiest when she could do or give something to someone.  I’m sure there are many who received a hat or scarf knit by her. She enjoyed reading or watching a good murder mystery and watching WWF. She also loved a good competition or rivalry—especially when it came to Packers vs Broncos with her brother and his in laws. She loved to show off her Packers tattooed prosthetic leg. Another thing that she enjoyed and that seemed to give her peace was coloring.  She often did that with her son and nieces and nephews and brought the love of art to her son.

There are many good qualities, especially her big smile, that we will miss.  We are hopeful that she is finding peace and moving forward in the arms of Jesus and her family members that have gone before.

She is survived by her son Chase Neuwirth (wife Kassandra) of Provo; her parents Paul and Leota Neuwirth of Pleasant Grove; her brother Jason Neuwirth (Angie) of Lindon; her nieces and nephews Tavas (Brielle) of Pleasant Grove, Ashley Byrd (Mitchell), Keegan, Damian, Isabella and grandniece Peggy Byrd all of Lindon. She is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

We appreciate the many, many kind people who have helped her throughout her life.

A private memorial service will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021.  Condolences may be sent to the family at
