Jonia Emory Lundberg

August 1, 1933 ~ January 14, 2021 (age 87)

It is with love and celebration for a life well lived that the children of Jonia Ann Emory Lundberg announce her sweet and peaceful passing on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Jonia, born and raised in the Washington DC Bethesda and Chevy Chase areas, is the daughter of Eugene and Alma Emory, and sister to Dan Emory. She got her bachelor’s degree from George Washington University prior to moving to Utah, attending BYU for her masters, and most importantly, dating and marrying the love of her life, Don Charles Lundberg.

Don and Jonia raised their family in the southern and then northern areas of California. Over those decades, Jonia was wonderfully active, serving in many community and church positions and political causes. Her reputation was always that of one choosing to contribute and make a difference, whether writing a roadshow play or visiting someone in need. It was of particular joy to Don and Jonia to serve others in their later years together.

Jonia had an absolute love of family (especially her grandchildren!), her ancestors and genealogy, getting to know and loving people, elementary education, music and singing, nature, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. She created an extensive collection of original work in song, poem, and story celebrating these very loves. A favorite memory is her gift for bedtime stories and songs. Jonia is remembered as a stalwart and dedicated woman who instilled in her posterity the desire to be contributors and servant leaders.

Jonia is survived by her children Laura (Jerry) Jacobs, Janine (Dan) See, Dean (Carolyn) Lundberg, 15 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. The family is thrilled to know of the reunion of Don and Jonia after the long separation since Don’s passing in February of 2003.
