Judith Hale Smith

April 5, 1933 ~ December 30, 2021 (age 88)

Judith Hale Smith passed away peacefully from natural causes on December 30th, 2021 at the age of 88.

She was born April 5th, 1933 to Elmer Clinton Hale and Leone Roundy in the Sugar House area of Salt Lake City.  She was the sixth of six children, three boys and three girls.  She graduated from South High School in 1951 and attended the University of Utah.

She was a life-long active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings throughout her life - the last one being an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple.

As soon as her oldest child was old enough to tend the younger children, she took up golf and loved every minute of it.  Besides golf, she loved going to plays and watching movies especially Alfred Hitchcock movies with a real twist at the end; but aside from her Savior and membership in the Church,  family and friends meant more to her than anything.

After retirement she and a friend decided to serve a mission together.  They were called to the Washington, Tacoma Mission where they had many wonderful experiences.  Inasmuch as they were both trained temple ordinance workers, they even traveled to the Seattle Washington Temple two days a week to serve in that temple.

Throughout her life she was submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love and willing to submit to all that was inflicted upon her.  She put her trust in the Lord and never murmured.  She fought a good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by her five children, Ronald Lee (Annie), Randall Wallace (Sue), Shelly (Cal Pitts), Jerald Ridges (Tammy), Judd Courtney (Lori), along with 23 grandchildren (eleven boys & twelve girls) plus 29 great grandchildren.
