Justin Mark Cox (aka Sir Cox Man, Hood Rat, J-Dawg, and our Little Bud) beloved brother, uncle, son and friend passed away February 20, 2020. Justin was born February 1, 1987 to Michael Ray and Deborah Van Orden Cox.
Justin was the youngest of six children. However, being driven to keep up he adopted his brother’s motto of “going big or going home”. Justin liked to live life to its fullest. He was drawn to the outdoors, with a love for rock climbing, snow boarding, wake boarding, and mountaineering. He was naturally gifted in everything he touched, excelled at sports, and mastered everything in-between from random yo-yo tricks to becoming a grand chess master.
Justin was thoughtful and lived in the moment. When we were busy doing the necessities, he would love on the children and became the undisputed favorite uncle. Ultimately, Justin was a true friend; he was genuine, loving, caring and kind.
A large part of Justin’s life was his recovery family. He both gave and received encouragement, love, and support from this family. He made this family, and many others feel as though they were his best friend, and more than that, that they were special.
Justin was a natural charmer. He could make friends at the gas station and mix with any crowd. He supported and lifted everyone within his reach. Honestly, he was one of the most likeable people we’ve ever known. We will remember him for his big smile, great laugh, and big heart. Justin, we love you and we will miss you!!!!
He is survived by his mother Deborah Cox, Pleasant Grove, UT; son, Dante Cox, California; four siblings: Michael Cox, Pleasant Grove, UT; Karen (Linn)Beck, Mendon, UT; Stephanie (Michael) Kendall, Farmington, UT; Stacey (Brett) Warner, Highland, UT; Katie (Alan)Harris, Saint George, UT; grandmother Jerry Van Orden, Blackfood, ID; grandparents Jackie (Rich) Maxfield, South Ogden, UT; many adoring nieces and nephews and additional family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Grove Creek Stake Center Chapel, 1176 North 730 East, Pleasant Grove.
