Kenneth David Walker, 76, of Lindon passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at his home. Kenneth was born July 5, 1945 in Pleasant Grove to Aaron and Ruby Bullock Walker. Kenneth grew up in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1962.
Ken married Shauna in 1981. They met at work and from the start they just clicked. They loved to laugh together and spend their time traveling and seeing new places. They enjoyed camping together and taking long rides on their razor at his favorite place, Gooseberry reservoir. Some of his best memories were spent there hunting and fishing with his brothers, family, and friends.
From a young age Ken always had a way with, and a love for, cars. His older brother Stan remembers coming home from work one night when Ken was only 12 years old to find him fixing Stans broken truck in the driveway. His love for turning a wrench only grew when he turned 16 and could drive. He bought a 1955 Chevy and he knew every nut and bolt on it. He was able to modify it and even did some local racing. Ken was eventually able to turn that hobby into a part time career, changing motors on the side for Strasburg Racing. Along with changing motors in the evenings Ken worked for Albertsons and Kroger, where he made a lot of amazing longtime friends. He retired from the grocery business and took a job with Pleasant Grove City, where he worked in the streets department for 15 years until his full retirement.
After retirement, Ken spent the next few years caring for his wife, Shauna, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. That struggle took its toll on them both, but they never lost their undying love for each other.
Community was important to both Ken and Shauna, in 1986 when they moved into their home in Lindon, they created lifelong friendships with their neighbors. After Shauna's passing those friendships were a source of strength for Ken and he appreciated the support of those around him.
Ken's love of the Chicago Cubs was legendary, he tried to watch the games whenever he could and he even traveled to see them play live in Chicago at Wrigley Field.
He is survived by his five children: Kurt (Marcy) Walker, American Fork; Keri (Robert) Carter, Spanish Fork; Keith (Dawnie) Walker, Lehi; Ryan (Sally) Memmott, Pleasant Grove and Brayden Walker; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and brother, Stan Walker.
He was preceded in death by his dear Shauna; parents, Aaron and Ruby Walker; three brothers: Russ, Eldon, and Jerry.
