Kevin Dennis Cox

March 19, 1980 ~ October 5, 2021 (age 41)

Obituary

Kevin Dennis Cox, our dearly loved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend left this earth on October 5, 2021.

Kevin was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, March 19, 1980 to Terry Lee and Dennis Jay Cox. They were thrilled to have a son join their family, who they loved very much.  As a child, he was known to be "too cute for his britches", allowing him to get away with mischief. He had one sibling, his sister Kelly, who he shared his best childhood memories with during his favorite time of year; Christmas. Kevin had an innate love and compassion for animals, which eventually evolved into time spent caring for homeless animals at Best Friends Animal Society. In time, he ended up adopting one of his life partners, Rex, aka Rextopher Cox.

He met his wife Karianne Aland in 2010, and in a matter of weeks they were married, leading to many adventures together, including the love of anything music and outdoors. He opened his arms to her two sons, Jaden Aland and Jory Hill, and quickly became another father figure in their lives. A few years later, Kevin and Kari had two daughters of their own, Kaitlyn and Abigail. Being a father gave Kevin the most important sense of fulfillment in life and he was a dedicated and caring father.

If you were looking for Kevin, you could always find him outside. He loved the wilderness and spent much of his time "getting lost" in the wild. He became a dedicated trail runner, hiker, mountain biker, and photographer. If Kevin wasn't helping animals, he was helping humans. He became an advocate for those in need and was a true friend and source of service and support for many. This kindness and empathy he displayed for others led to many lifelong friends, both on and off the trail. He developed a passion for photography and had a special way of capturing the world in a beautiful light. From a park bench to the sky on fire, his images were stunning and they tell their own story.

Kevin impacted all those that knew him. He was a husband that would love you always, a son to be proud of, a father who gave endless hugs, a friend that would lend an ear, an uncle that would make you giggle, and a brother you could rely on. We will dearly miss his smile, love and humor. Keep climbing those mountains Kevin, we will see you someday on top.

Kevin is survived by his wife Karianne, his stepsons Jaden Aland and Jory Hill, his daughters Kaitlyn Cox and Abigail Cox. He is also survived by his parents Dennis and Terry Cox, his sister Kelly Reece (David) and many other uncles, aunts, cousins, in-laws, nephews, and nieces.

There will be a small service for immediate family members only, with a celebration of life planned for a future date. The family will notify loved ones in the future when this event is scheduled.
