Laura Marie MacKenzie Munger, 85, passed away peacefully, April 22, 2020 three days after her beloved husband, Ron passed away. Laura was born on April 5, 1935 in Fort Benton, Montana to James MacKenzie and Crissie Vandervoort. She met her eternal companion while studying at the University of Montana. They were married on May 5, 1957. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo, Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the fall of 1984.
Laura grew up in Corvallis, Montana, a tiny town located in the heart of the beautiful Bitterroot valley. Laura was the oldest of two children, her baby sister, Joanne, lived only 3 days. Laura was very active as a youth riding horses, cheerleading and dancing. Her greatest love was anything that would involve dancing. In 1954 Laura joined the Civil Air Patrol and was deployed to San Antonio, Texas. Laura was a full-time mom who took special care of all her children, especially her son Tommy, who suffered from Muscular Dystrophy. Laura and Ron raised their four children in Great Falls, Montana until 1982 when they moved to Elk Ridge, Utah. Laura loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a great woman who will be remembered for her compassion, humor and beautiful smile.
Laura is survived by her two daughters Tammy (Dave) Holland, Billings, Montana; Tonya (Troy) Alvey, Cedar Hills, Utah; a son, Todd (Julianne) Munger, Lehi, Utah; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Her husband, Ronald Joseph Munger, son Thomas James Munger, and her parents preceded her in death.
Due to Covide19 restrictions, funeral services will not be held. A small graveside memorial for Laura and Ron will be held Thursday in the Highland City Cemetery, 10930 N 6150 W for family and close friends.
