Laurie Kathleen Ryan Danklef passed away on November 6, 2021 after battling with Alzheimer's disease. Laurie was born on May 6, 1949 Dallas, TX. She spent her childhood there and attended Highland Park High School before moving to Provo. Laurie studied at BYU where she earned a degree in sociology. She met Val Danklef in a BYU ward and they were married on October 16, 1974 in the Salt Lake temple. Laurie and Val welcomed Gregory and Shannon and raised them in Pleasant Grove. They also gave birth to three more children who died in infancy, Thomas Jeffery, Mary, and Gina.

Laurie loved music. She played the piano, organ, and guitar and sang in choirs and groups throughout her life. She passed her love of music to her family and enjoyed listening to music and singing or playing with others. Laurie devoted much of her time to family and church service. She held many callings in relief society and young women and served a mission with Val in Atlanta, GA. Laurie had a special place in her heart for girls camp, which was one of the family's biggest events of the year as everyone pitched in to help prepare, support, and then when it was over, put away all the camp items. If there is a girls camp in heaven, she is already on the committee and putting together a meal plan and campfire songs. Laurie worked in the PGJHS copy center for many years and loved being there with the staff and kids. Laurie truly looked forward to being with her grandchildren: Oliver, Ruby, August, Henry and Greta. While she only had a few years with them she was able to show them her gentle, caring, and fun-loving soul. To know Laurie was to love her.

Laurie was preceded in death by her husband Val Danklef and three other children. She was also preceded by her parents, Kent Ryan and Afton Henderson, and her brother Gary. She is survived by her sister Christine and brother Nick and her children Gregory (Kris Tina Carlston) Danklef and Shannon (Zack) Beckstead.

Alzheimer's tends to rob us of all memories. We would love to have you leave a comment about a memory you have of our sweet mother.
