Everyone loved Lorna. Lorna Cowley Walker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who showed incredible kindness, compassion, and patience to everyone she knew.
Lorna was born in Venice, Utah, September 24, 1924, to Ray C. and Jennie Davis Cowley. She graduated in 1942 from Richfield High school where she was senior student body president and was class valedictorian. After high school she enrolled at BYU where her tuition was $25 a quarter.
When World War II broke out, she married her high school sweetheart, Alden Fillmore of Richfield, Utah. A B-52 pilot, Alden was killed on a training mission in 1945. Lorna returned to BYU where she met and married Stanley H Walker of Pleasant Grove (stockbroker, mayor of Lindon and Utah Country Treasurer). They had four children: Patricia Walker, San Francisco, CA; Jeanne McCollum (Evan) Castle Rock, CO; Harold S. Walker (Kellie) Gilbert, AZ; and Holly Meiners (Mike), Orem, Utah. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and brought her much joy.
She was active in many of her husband's political campaigns, and after her children were grown, she worked as secretary for the Pleasant Grove Seminary. Lorna and Stan served a mission to New Zealand in 1989. They also served a stake mission and a part time church service mission at the MTC in Provo.
She is known among family and friends for her Thanksgiving "dressing", her beautiful quilts, her infectious laugh, and her love of her church. She had many LDS church positions but her favorites were working in the temple and leading the singing.
She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and did humanitarian work for the church. She loved to travel. She was always ready to go. She especially loved a good road trip with her daughters.
The past two years, Lorna was a resident of Spring Garden's Senior Living in Lindon, Utah. We are truly thankful for family and friends who came to visit her. She was blessed with so many friends and always surrounded by love.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Aspen Eighth Ward Chapel, 1485 North 800 West, Orem, Utah where family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
