Obituary

Lyman W. Smith (Smokey) passed away at home in Pleasant Grove on July 6, 2020 of natural causes. He was born on December 10, 1928 to Harold Alden and Duretha Allred Smith. After returning from a tour with the U.S. Army, he married Eberle Anne Mulkay from Pacific Grove, California. They settled in Pleasant Grove where Dad spent his life serving the community as a letter carrier for the USPS. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for 39 years helping to build up the department and rebuilding "Old Joe" their 1933 Dodge fire truck. Lyman especially enjoyed driving Joe in the Strawberry Days parades.

His talents and passions included working for Geneva Steel and Timpanogos Cave, Civil Air Patrol, camping at Moon Lake, fishing, mining, construction, mechanics, collecting hats and so much more.

Smokey is survived by his wife of 68 years, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and brother Don. 

Due to Covid -19 restrictions a private family graveside service will be held at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
