In Celebration of Mary Alice’s Life
Mary Alice Sumrow Brinley was born on April 4, 1933 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James Sumrow and Julia Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband Eldon. She has two sons and two daughters: Denzil Brinley of Arkansas, Derry Brinley (Jules) of Utah, Lori McNabb (Bill) of California, and LeNae Boyett (Chris) of Texas, as well as 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
She grew up in Oklahoma and Texas where she met her husband. She retired to Salt Lake City, Utah. She was an accomplished woman, who obtained a master’s degree in English, cosmetology license, and gifted with genealogy.
Mary Alice loved her children, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and serving others. She had a zest for life and loved living in Utah where she could attend the temple frequently, experience the performing arts, and serve as a full time missionary in the family history library. She also enjoyed crafting, cake decorating, sewing, opera, singing, reading, and shopping. Her joy for life was contagious, as was her laughter. She was an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling the world to see family, and experience new cultures.
Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her unconditional love she bestowed on others regardless of who they were.
Though she is no longer with us, her legacy will live on forever. May she find joy and hope in the resurrection and a lasting gratitude for the Savior.
Private family services were held Saturday, April 17, 2021.
