Mary Ann (Bruss) Sellers

April 18, 1942 ~ April 18, 2022 (age 80)

Mary Ann Bruss Sellers successfully completed her mission on earth and passed peacefully to return to her heavenly home on Monday, April 18, 2022. Coincidentally, she passed on her 80th birthday. Mary Ann was born on April 18, 1942 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her father was serving as a Colonel in the Air Force during World War II at the time of her birth. Her early years were spent in New Mexico, Arizona and Texas. She attended Farmington high school in Farmington, New Mexico where she met and married her husband Arlen Glenn Sellers.

Following high school, Arlen earned a degree in electrical engineering from Brigham Young University while Mary Ann finished high school at Provo high. Arlen and Mary Ann had three sons in the first four years of their marriage. Arlen‘s work took them to New Mexico, Colorado and Florida. Mary Ann’s life is a shining example of service both to her family and in the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. Mary Ann was converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Arlen who had been a lifelong member. Mary Ann would go on to drag Arlen to church for the next 50 plus years. Much of her life was spent in service to the youth of the church. She served as both ward and stake young women’s leader for many years. She was heavily involved in the athletic programs of the church as well. She coached the young women’s basketball and softball teams and refereed many games which is how many of her dear friends from Florida remember her. Mary Ann bore a fourth son during their time in Florida. She successfully sent all four of her sons on missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following Arlen‘s retirement, Arlen and Mary Ann moved to Utah to be closer to their children. During this time, Mary Ann served as Stake Relief Society president for many years and formed many great friendships.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband Arlen and her second son Kyle. She is survived by her older brother Ernest Hudgens Bruce III and her other three sons, Terry (Melody), Kevin (Rochelle) and Jared, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
