Maurine Bernice Chadwick Allen Dunn passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 in Pleasant Grove, UT. She was born to Leroy and Bernice Chadwick on June 26, 1932 in Nampa, Idaho. She was the oldest of five children.
Maurine graduated from Nampa High School in 1950. She met and married James V. Allen while he was still on active duty Air Force on September 17, 1951. When he was discharged from the Air Force they settled in Seattle, WA, where their four children were born. In 1965 they moved to Utah where Maurine worked to support Jim while he finished his higher education.
After raising four children, she attended Brigham Young University, earning an Associate’s degree in Library Science. She used her degree to become the Media Center Specialist at Northridge Elementary School, where she worked for many years. When the newly built Rocky Mountain Elementary School was finished, Maurine was given the opportunity to set up and run the library for the school, which she did until her retirement.
Maurine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she held many callings as a leader and a teacher, and was always involved with music in her church, both singing in the choir and as chorister. After Jim’s death in 2008, Maurine also devoted her time to serving as a Tour Guide in the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City.
In 2015 she sold her home in Orem and moved into Treeo Independent Living Apartments where she met Gordon H. Dunn, retired Physics Professor from the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO. They shared a love of music and dancing and were married in 2016.
She is survived by her husband Gordon H. Dunn of Orem, UT; sister, Charlotte Hall of Orem, UT; brother, Terry Chadwick (Alayne) of Idaho Falls, ID; her four children, Elayne Boyce (Douglas), Tina Barnes (Ethan), Russell Allen (Barbara), Glen Allen, 14 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, James V. Allen; brother, Ron Chadwick; sister, Joann Haws; and daughter-in-law, Tawnya Finch Allen.
