Michael Scott Christensen, 81, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully Thursday, July 28, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born in Levan, Utah February 6, 1941 to Leo Walter and Phyllis Francom Christensen. He married the love of his life, Mary Dorothy Wilkinson on February 28, 1964 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Michael grew up in Levan, Nephi and Cedar City. Their family later moved to Provo where he graduated from Provo High School in 1959. During high school Mike worked at his father’s gas station in Provo. Michael attended Utah State and BYU after high school and later continued his education at UVU, graduating with honors in 2003. He worked as a Forest Service Ranger/Firefighter in California in his early years and later as a Metallurgist at Geneva Steel for many years where he retired. He also had a second job as a Stone Mason where he made among many things the beautiful fireplace in his family home. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, fishing, camping, hunting, and spending cherished time with family.
Michael was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings. His favorite calling was serving in the Mt Timpanogos Temple.
He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; five children: Scott (Michelle) Christensen, Elk Ridge; Shawna McElroy, Vernal; Stacey (David) Mitchell, American Fork; Suzanne (Vance) Baxter, Genola and Nicklaus (Heather) Christensen, Cedar Hills; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; two siblings: Kathy Brumley and David (Marsha) Christensen. He was preceded in death by his parent; sister, Patrece Aagard and grandson, Tyler Scott Christensen.
Family and friends may attend a viewing Wednesday evening, August 3, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1:30 pm in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
