Myrna Lee Yocom, 84, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, passed away December 23, 2022, surrounded by family and loved ones, in American Fork, Utah.
Myrna was born January 17, 1938, in Provo, Utah, to Dove Graham and Roy Larsen. She was the youngest of two daughters. As a young girl, Myrna had the rare experience in the 1950’s to homestead in western Utah with her mother Dove and stepfather Clyde Peay and lived in the sparsely populated settlement of Partoun, where they did not have running water or electricity.
In 1986, Myrna married Karl Yocom Jr, at a rocky point on the Pacific Ocean in La Jolla, California. Karl often joked that they married at that location because they both had previous marriages, and he wanted to start this one out “on the rocks”, but it was the keeper for over 36 years. Myrna and Karl lived in numerous states during their early marriage, due to Karl’s employment. Finally in 2002 they moved to Pleasant Grove, where they have lived for 20 years.
Myrna was a talented artist. She painted beautiful scenes in oil and watercolor and enjoyed visiting art galleries. She was great at using clip art to make cards for others. Myrna was a wonderful musician and loved to play her beautiful white baby grand piano. She enjoyed listening, singing, and dancing to music.
Myrna always expressed a special love for Jesus, and you can find a bible in every room, from which she would read, study and underline her favorite passages. She loved to grow flowers, especially roses. Myrna adored babies and children, who would bring out her playful side. She was an excellent cook and would pursue the healthiest foods.
Myrna is survived by four children from her first marriage to David Snyder: David Snyder II of American Fork, Sandy (Wayde) Bennett of American Fork, Joseph Snyder of Lehi, and Marcella (Dan) Stock of Escondido, California. Myrna was preceded in death by her son Jared Snyder (2001), whom she missed dearly. She is also survived by two stepdaughters from Karl’s first marriage: Jennifer (Michael) Harris of West Valley City and Kimberly (Xavier) Tricoche of Lafayette, Indiana. Myrna has 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
