Ralph LeRoy Gillespie, 86, of Orem, Utah passed away peacefully May 5, 2021.  Roy was born February 7, 1935 in American Fork, Utah to Ralph LeRoy Gillespie and Geneva Merle Carlson.  He married the love of his life, Ople Chatwin September 9, 1955 and have enjoyed 66 wonderful years together.  

Roy graduated from high school in 1953 and joined the Marine Corp where he served during the Korean Conflict.  He later worked at Geneva Steel for 20+ years and was a Volunteer Fireman for the Orem Fire Department.   After his retirement from Geneva, he worked in maintenance at several nursing homes.  

Together he and Ople had four children, 20 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and 26 great great grandchildren.  

Roy is survived by his wife Ople; children, Terri (Bart) Hardman, Paul (Tina) Gillespie and Dawn Luker. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Ann M Gillespie Veltman; brother, Carl Heber Gillespie, and a grandson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove where family at friends may attend a viewing from 9:00-10-45 am prior to services.  Please follow the link above if you would like to watch the funeral stream from home.
