Richard Nelson Bagley

April 12, 1935 ~ November 14, 2021 (age 86)


Richard Nelson Bagley, 86, of Provo passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 14, 2021.   Richard was born April 12, 1935 in Provo, Utah to Roland and Irene Nelson Bagley.  He married Vera Sanford in June of 1959 in the Salt Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Richard grew up in Provo and attended schools there.  The family moved to Lindon when Richard was 15 years old and he later graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1954.   After graduation, Richard worked at Barbizon in Provo and Timp Drive In Theater as the Projectionist.    In October of 1956, Richard served as a missionary in the Southern California Mission and returned home in December of 1958.   After his marriage to Vera, they made their home in Provo, Utah.   Richard worked at several different jobs in finance and managed Frontier Finance in Provo, Utah for many years until his retirement.  

Richard was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings during his life.  He especially enjoyed his time serving as the Branch President at the Jamestown Retirement Community near his home in Provo.   He and Vera also served as Temple Workers in the Provo LDS Temple. 

Richard took great pride in his yard and vegetable garden. 

He is survived by his sister, Betty B Clark; brother, Don Thompson and many loving nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Vera; parents, Roland and Irene Bagley; step-father, Earl M Thompson and brothers: Glenn Bagley and Paul Thompson. 

Family and friends are invited to attend Richard’s graveside service to be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo, Utah.  Services under the direction the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove.   Condolences may be sent to the family at
