Our dear dad, Robert Kent Stevens, 93, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2020. He was born in Barnwell, Canada on June 27, 1926 to Winona Turner Ursenbach and David Earl Stevens. He grew up loving the outdoors and was a hard worker, working on many farms throughout his youth. One of his favorite activities was playing basketball. His team “The Wolves” was nicknamed “The Thundering Herd.” The crowning highlight of his high school days was winning the Alberta South Championship.
Bob married his high school sweetheart, Thea Lenore Jensen on November 27, 1946 in the Cardston Temple. Bob and Thea made their first home in Barnwell and moved to Provo in 1956. They have lived in Pleasant Grove since 1963. Bob enjoyed gardening, restoring antique engines, snowmobiling, hunting and the great outdoors. He was a well-respected brick mason and worked alongside two of his sons for many years. He and Thea served in the Philippines Davao Mission from 1992-1994. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many different church callings.
He was preceded in death by his wife Thea. He is survived by his five children: Philip (Taunya) Stevens, Ken (Loretta) Stevens, Brad (Shery) Stevens, Rita (Doug) Yates and LeeAnn (Randy) Tomlinson; as well as his 17 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren.
