Rodney Joseph Haddock was born October 6, 1944 to Albert Joseph Haddock and Vivian Hansen Haddock in Cedar City, Utah. He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shortly after the age of accountability and was faithful until the end. He passed away at home on February 7, 2021 after enduring a long fight with health challenges resulting from his military service.
He grew up in southern California after relocating with his family. He loved sports and attended college at Brigham Young University where he played football. He enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam as a door gunner for the 101st Airborne. Upon his return home, he married his sweetheart, Patricia Gale Peters, the love of his life in the Los Angeles Temple.
Rod enjoyed his career as a police officer for the Costa Mesa Police Department where he was loved and respected by his colleagues and fellow officers. He enjoyed spending time with his family hunting, fishing, tinkering with classic cars and watching his grandchildren play.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, five children and their loving spouses: Todd Haddock, Wendy Morgan, Benjamin Haddock, Heidi Roberson, and Karey Romney, 17 grandchildren, his mother and two brothers: He was preceded in death by his father.
Family funeral services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Northridge Second Ward Chapel, 1780 North 165 East, Orem, Utah. Family and friends may attend a visitation from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, masks and social distancing are required.
