Ronald Joseph Munger, 85, of American Fork, Utah passed away peacefully, April 19, 2020. Ron was born on July 3, 1934 in Helena, Montana to Joseph Munger and Harriet Rice Munger. He married Laura Marie MacKenzie, whom he met after running into a goal post during football practice on the campus of the University of Montana, in Missoula, Montana. They were married on May 5, 1958. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the fall of 1984.
Ron grew up in Helena, Montana with his brother Rich. As a youth, Ron was very active, and excelled in baseball, football, and track and field. Ron joined the Army in 1954 and was deployed to Germany where he played football, baseball and basketball for the Armed Forces Sports Leagues. Ron attended the University of Montana, and Eastern Montana College earning a degree in psychology. He worked in the insurance and sales industry until retiring in 2008. Ron and Laura raised their four children in Great Falls, Montana until 1982 when they moved to Elk Ridge, Utah. Ron loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ron will always be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, and genuine smile.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Marie Munger; two daughters, Tammy (David) Holland, Billings, MT; Tonya (Troy) Alvey, Cedar Hills, UT; a son, Todd (Julianne) Munger, Lehi, UT; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Bette) Munger, Clancy, Montana. His son, Thomas James Munger and his parents preceded him in death.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, funeral services will not be held. A small graveside memorial for family and close friends will be held in the Highland Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
