Steven Wayne Downs was born April 9, 1989 in Ada, Oklahoma to Wayne and Jill Downs. As a young man he lived in Ririe, Idaho and Sugar City, Idaho before moving to Cedar Hills, Utah. He is the youngest of 7 children. He is survived by his parents Wayne and Jill Downs and siblings Bonnie Halladay (Ted Halladay), Erin Summers (Justin Summers), Lindsey Bevan, Julia Halls (Rob Halls), Max Downs, Kelly Downs (Clint Hollingsworth).
While Steve was in high school he was an expert at trampoline tricks and loved hanging out with his friends. He earned his Eagle Scout award where he installed new golf ball washers at the Cedar Hills Golf Course.
Steven graduated in 2007 from Lone Peak High School. Following high school, Steven moved to Salt Lake City where he loved living in the city and being close to his sister Kelly. He worked many jobs most recently; Este Pizza and BTG Wine Bar both in Salt Lake City. He loved his skateboard friends where they “had each other’s backs”. His greatest passion was skateboarding throughout the city. He was able to meet and befriend many people with his big smile and cheerful countenance. He also enjoyed snowboarding and even won a Peanut Butter and Rail Jam competition. He and his smile will be greatly missed at home as well as on the streets downtown.
Steven Wayne Downs unexpectedly passed away February 24, 2020 at the side of his mother in their home in Cedar Hills Utah due to heart failure. Steven was 30 years old.
A funeral will be held February 28, 2020 at 11:00 am in the Cedar Hills Third Ward Chapel, 4425 West Cedar Hills Drive, Cedar Hills, Utah. A viewing will take place that morning from 10:00-10:45 am in the same building. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Steven’s life. He will be buried near family in the Sutton Cemetery in Archer, Idaho on February 29, 2020 at 11:00 am. Funeral directors – Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove, Utah.
