Our beloved Steven E Nicholes passed away with his loving wife by his side on May 25, 2022, after a long valiant battle with cancer. He was born in American Fork Utah on May 13, 1946, to Emery and Vivian Nicholes.
In Steve's early years, he spent a lot of his time on the mountain side, herding sheep with his dad and brothers.
Steve graduated from American Fork High school and was the drafted in the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam war.
He worked for the Boiler Maker Union for over forty years and traveled the world working as an expert welder.
Steve married Peggy Long and together they had 2 beautiful daughters, Lesa and Lesley. They were later divorced.
He then married the love of his life, Gloria in 1991. Together they enjoyed traveling across the country. Steve was an avid trap shooter who excelled in this sport and won many awards for his skills. Through this sport, he made many friends and many memories. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, golfing, and spending time with his family.
Steve was a wonderful husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Gloria Nicholes (Lindon), Lesa Nicholes (Richmond, TX), Lesley Nicholes (Sugarland, TX), Shannon (Joe)-Payson UT, Tracy
(Randy) - American Fork UT, Dena (Mike) Price UT, Brady (Jennifer) Benjamin UT, Katie (Allen) Darby MT, a special niece Judy Powell (American Fork), a brother Perry Nicholes (Idaho), 24 grandchildren, and many great grands.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Colleen Cannon, brother Vern Nicholes, a stepson Michael Batchelor and a grandson Tyson Walsh.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 at 12 Noon in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. There will be a time during the service where we would invite anyone who would like to share a memory of Steve to have the opportunity to do so. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 10:00 – 11:30 am in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah prior to the graveside. At Steve's request please wear casual clothes.
